You can be referred by, or refer others to DraughtBusters via various routes. We may also be able to help others, facing different circumstances

If you would like to enquire about DraughtBusters helping draughtproof your home, you should contact one of these organisations and they will refer you to us via the appropriate channels.

You will then join the queue of those waiting. On reaching the top of the list you will be offered an appointment.

Learning Online or Inperson

Our website has step-by-step advice to help you draughtproof your own home, if you’re able to.

We know it can feel daunting, so we also run pop-up talks and hands-on learning sessions in the community. We’ve visited neighbourhood and residents’ groups, housing associations, faith groups, community charities and seasonal events, and we’re happy to come to you.

We also run talks and workshops for businesses, helping employees draughtproof their homes and supporting workplace sustainability and ESG activities.

Our aim is simple: to share draughtproofing skills with as many people as possible, so more homes in Reading stay warm.

What to expect during a DraughtBusters visit

Once you’ve booked an appointment, we’ll guide you through everything. Here’s what to expect on the day. The whole visit usually takes about an hour to an hour and a half.

1. Look around your home together

Tell us where you’ve noticed draughts or other problems. You live there, so you know your home best. Our DraughtBusting team will then inspect your home, with you or on our own, whichever you prefer

2. We agree a plan and get to work

We’ll talk you through what we found and suggest the best ways to fix it. If you’re happy with the plan, we’ll start the draughtproofing straight away. We bring all the tools and materials needed, and the cost of materials is included.

3. We share tips to keep your home warm

Before we leave, we’ll give you practical advice on using your heating, keeping your home well ventilated and dealing with condensation, so your home stays cosy and efficient.
